History often repeats itself. Some say it always does. In ‘Thaddeus Lamb’ I trace the beginnings of the backlash against the Roe v Wade decision in 1973 that gave women the right to choose for themselves whether to carry a pregnancy to term. At that time, making such a choice was so controversial that the pseudonym ‘Jane Roe’ was used to protect the identity of the woman whose case was used to challenge the law that banned her from getting an abortion.

Today women are back in that same precarious position because the Supreme Court reversed Roe v Wade in the case of Dobbs v Jackson. But there is a very different cultural climate today. For fifty years women grew up with the idea that they had a right to make their own reproductive decisions, and they are outraged to have that right taken away.

Yesterday I watched a heart wrenching story of Amber Thurman, who died because of the abortion ban in Georgia. Some such bans have been overturned at the ballot box. Some think it will affect State and National elections. There are strong feelings on both sides. What do you think? Are you motivated to vote?
