Five years ago on this day, January 6, 2020 Donald Trump attempted a coup that failed. We should never forget that day. I will never forget it. I stood in amazement as I watched in real time as rioters attacked the Capitol in the cause of overturning the election, which Trump had convinced them was illegitimate.

I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe that such a thing could happen in this country. Trump’s coup failed, but what he accomplished with it was the shattering of a 200 year tradition of a peaceful transition of power. We can never count on that again, and that is a gigantic loss. We should never forget what happened that day, or what we lost, or who caused it.

And yet, four years later we elected him again because he promised to fix the economy. It has to be the biggest con that was ever perpetrated in the history of the world. Now he is a true billionaire, having used his office to engage in the highest level of graft ever accomplished in the history of our country.

So now that he’s really rich, he can turn his sights on power. He’s been rattling his sabers ever since he got in office; threatening Canada, Greenland, Cuba, and especially Venezuela. Not to mention putting troops on our own city streets, blowing small boats out oof the water, and using the US military as his own private army.

So why was I surprised when we invaded Venezuela and took out it’s (admittedly horrible) dictator. How is it that I keep being surprised at the extent of what he will do? He doesn’t care if it was illegal for him to invade another country, any more than he cared if it was illegal to put troops on the streets of Chicago, or LA, or DC, or Memphis. He didn’t care if it was illegal to arrest people without due process and ship them off to foreign prisons.

The realization that horrified me as I watched our invasion of Venezuela three days ago, was that Trump now has total control of the US Armed Forces for his own personal use and there is no one who can stop him. So don’t be surprised if Columbia is next, and then Cuba, or Greenland. Because who’s going to stop him? Denmark? Columbia? Mexico?

Welcome to the New World Order folks. Buckle up. It could be a very bumpy ride.
